The first female president in the world.

Vigdís Finnbogadóttir was born on April 15, 1930, in Reykjavik, Iceland.

She had a background in literature and language, and had worked as an actress and theater director before getting involved in politics.

She began her political career as the director of the Icelandic National Theatre before being elected as the president in 1980. Vigdís Finnbogadóttir was the world's first democratically elected female president. She was re-elected in the subsequent presidential elections in 1984, 1988, 1992, and 1996, serving as the President of Iceland for a total of 16 years until 1996.

During her time in office, Vigdís Finnbogadóttir was revered and loved by the people of Iceland. She worked to strengthen Iceland's cultural identity and promoted the national language and literature. After her presidency, she remained active in various cultural and international activities.

As of my last knowledge update in September 2021, Vigdís Finnbogadóttir continues to be a respected and remembered figure in Iceland, although she has retired from the political arena.
